The seven pillars of Brail

The architect Burtel Oprandi asked me at a vernissage if I could make sculptures out of an old fir hedge. We quickly agreed that this would be an exciting project and so I made a few models. It was wonderful for me that the customer gave me a completely free hand in the design. In this way, 7 pillars between 2.50 and 4.50 m were created until the depths of winter.

The organ-shaped columns form a reference to the gable of the house and stand in front of it like mystical guardians. A closed screen has been transformed into an open row of figures.

In the meantime, the pillars have weathered somewhat and now shine silver-grey in the Engadine light.
